Job Summary:
As a Lab Technician at Peptone, you will contribute to smooth laboratory operations that will allow our Team of Lab Scientists to focus on their scientific work. You will do this by managing the distribution and inventory of compounds, by taking care of stocks of consumables, ensuring the cleanliness of our labs and by conducting basic experiments in cell culture and biochemistry labs. You work in a highly collaborative, team-oriented and fast-paced start-up environment with a strong commitment to deliver and in ways that cut across traditional industry boundaries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Routine cell culture work like cell splitting and mycoplasma testing
- Preparation and aliquoting of standard solutions, buffers and media
- Recording data clearly and accurately according to industry standards.
- Collaborate with team members to support research and laboratory projects.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols within the lab.
- Managing the distribution and inventory of small molecule compounds by initiating and monitoring compound shipments to CROs and handling the inhouse small molecule inventory.
- Execution and handling the procurement of consumables and basic lab equipment.
- Coordinate laboratory inventory to ensure all necessary supplies are available.
- Oversee laboratory procurement.
- Handle incoming shipments and ensure proper receipt of goods.
- Continuous improvement of lab processes like storage systems, compound management
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy.
- Basic operational work including cleaning of glassware, filling up stocks of consumables lab cleaning
- Refill liquid nitrogen as needed for storage and experiments.
- Preparation of Agar plates
- Sterilization work by autoclaving media and waste
- Ensuring a functioning waste management
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment
- Participate in training and development activities as needed.
- Provide manual support where required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- A degree or technical high school studies in a relevant field such as Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline is required.
- Several years of professional experience in a laboratory setting is a very big plus.
- Strong attention to detail, effective communication & ability to work in a team.
- Commitment to maintaining a high standard of accuracy in all tasks.
- Being fluent in both spoken and written English is absolutely mandatory
